Overlooking Edinburgh’s Old Town and the castle, last week’s gala celebration saw staff, clients and associates gather to toast 25-years of doing business together in Scotland. It was also the right time to renew the Company’s commitment to develop the business in Scotland, including investing in building digital, cyber and data sciences capabilities.
Founded by Elizabeth Vega in 1992, Informed Solutions now has offices in the UK (Manchester, Edinburgh, London) and Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra), and trades in over 40 countries.
From its earliest days, Informed has worked in Scotland, delivering many significant innovation projects across multiple sectors. It has delivered GIS programmes in the oil and gas sectors and digital transformation programmes for the Ministry of Justice, Registers of Scotland, Forestry Commission and Boundary Commission for Scotland among others.
The Company’s wider relationships in Scotland extend to longstanding sponsorship of the University of Edinburgh MSc GIS course, and in particular awards for excellence in dissertations work, student work placements and graduate programmes. As advocates of innovation and excellence in industry, Informed is a gold member of Scotland IS (the trade body of Scotland’s digital economy) and has for some years also sponsored the Innovate Award at the Holyrood Connect ICT forum. Informed has a strong reputation for innovation through collaborative working and is renowned for delivering large and complex projects as the consortium leader working with other Scottish and UK SMEs.
Commenting about Informed’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Group CEO Elizabeth Vega said she was proud of the work they’d delivered in Scotland, particularly on whole-of-enterprise digital transformation projects.
“For example, we’ve worked with the Registers of Scotland, the oldest national land register in the world, and helped make it the most modern,” she said. “We’re increasing our commitment to Scotland as we navigate together through Brexit and we’re here to do an outstanding job by our clients and also to create jobs and invest in training and skills development. We know there is a critical need to build up modern IT, digital and cyber skills and that there is a shortage of these capabilities.
“We’ve all worked hard to build a fabulous company and workplace culture at Informed and I’m extremely proud of our achievements. Despite all the market uncertainty, we’ve focused on playing to our strengths and continue to enjoy solid business growth. Everyone is excited about the future, particularly as we push forward with our growth strategy which includes our Scottish business.”
